For the second edition of MAF, we go back to the 1920s, the era of Belgian modernism, and we meet with the designs of Victor Servranckx (1897-1965). Servranckx was a pioneer of Belgian constructivism. In addition to his practice as a visual artist, Servranckx worked at the Peeters-Lacroix wallpaper factory in Haren, near Brussels. A number of Belgian archives have preserved Servranckx’s wallpaper designs. Most of them are clearly in line with the art deco trend, showing decorative floral and animal motifs in daring colours. MAF chose four of Servranckx’s designs from the 1920s and reissued them as wallcoverings on a roll.
