For the plants on the Lotus wallpaper, we drew inspiration from 16th- and 17th-century printmaking, which experimented greatly with etching and engraving. Certain parts are shaded more finely while others feature more white space. This etching technique adds perspective to the drawing. By clearly depicting not only the flower but also the stems, this design is more vertically oriented. The metal effect finish in some colours creates a very elegant end result.
